“We are a restaurant that does good honest South African influenced food. Not fine dining, maybe a finer type of dining. I use basic French methods but there is always a twist. A childhood memory or inspiration from a chef, country or a product, which I like.” – Chef Johan Stander
Sunday set menu only
It was a while back that we visited Glen Carlou and from memory remembered it was always an enjoyable experience. This time we booked through Restaurant Week and Glen Carlou did not fail! From the moment you step in, to our waiter Lizette - you made our time an awesome experience. I celebrated my birthday the particular day we were there and our table sampled all the items on the menu and each morsel being tasted were a surprise and we enjoyed the flavours chef was mashing up together. A real treat and highly recommended to just go and treat yourself at this wine estate just outside Klapmuts - you won't be disappointed!

We had a booking through Restaurant Week and from our arrival the service was excellent. We were seated outside on a perfect day, but given the option to be seated inside if we so wished. Jezayne did our wine tasting of wines we could choose and he was most informative - we thoroughly enjoyed his expertise. The food was delicious and presented beautifully. We had a great afternoon and left with a case of their delicious wines. We will definitely be back. Thank you to the staff and management for a perfect dining experience.

We visited the restaurant at Glen Carlou on 13 Aug for a Sunday lunch. It was my wife's 50th and we were a group of 12 people, including 3 children younger than 10 years old. The outing was as close to prefect as one could wish for. The views from our table were as breathtaking as promised and the service, food and wine really special. The wines are sold at cellar prices and includes a wide variety and in different price ranges. The wines are good!

Rocked up at Glen Carlou midweek for my birthday lunch based on Trip Advisor references. The service was excellent and the menu choice although small covers a diverse range of culinary tastes. Our food was very good (Sea Bass and Pork Belly) and well presented. I was even given a small bottle of vino for my birthday as well as a complimentary starter. Highly recommended.

Glen Carlou has recently become our favorite fine dining restaurant in the Paarl wine lands. We've returned twice in 3 weeks and have loved it both times. It occurred to us that if one takes the special for R290 which is a choice of starters, mains and desserts, plus a really nice wine at around R100, you come out at about $30 which is a steal by international standards. We will certainly be bringing our international friends this season.

On our way we stopped for lunch at Glen Calou. The food is so nice and refined. We loved it so much. They served the lunch of the terrace from where you have a spectacular view. The lunch, chadonnay wine, desert wine and view will definitely stay in our minds! In high season reservation is recommended.

A great experience as we had lovely table inside, overlooking a superb view. Our waiter was very good. Food a little slow in coming, but a group of friends together enjoying good company & wine, it really is hardly noticeable, plus the restaurant was busy. A worthwhile experience!!

We arrived at Glen Carlou by chance and boy were we lucky. We were a big group of 13 people away for the weekend to celebrate a birthday. We intended to just taste some wine and then move along to the next wine farm. Our plans changed and before we knew it we were three stories underground doing a cellar tour and tasting experience. I have been living in Cape Town for 13 years and have been to close to a 100 different wine farms in the Cape, this experience was, by a country mile, the best.

We'd driven down from Dwarkersbos up on the Atlantic coast, where we'd been spending a few days, earlier in the day to meet up with friends at Glen Carlou for lunch and wine tasting. Really we were a bit tired and road-worn but we perked up once inside the lovely lofty dining room with all its polished timber and glass....

Visited for a superb gourmet lunch. Service was a bit slow, but the excellent views and atmosphere made this tolerable. Book in advance for a table on the balcony and do a wine tasting first.
